Isn’t this an exciting bit of casting news for the new HBO Harry Potter series?

Warwick Davis is officially reprising his role as Professor Flitwick! Many fans will also remember him as Griphook, the goblin who worked at Gringotts Wizarding Bank. In the new series, Griphook will be played by Garry Puddles, known for his roles in Joker and its sequel.
It’s great to see one of the original cast members coming back to the franchise. Honestly, I think this is such a smart move it bridges the gap between longtime fans who grew up with the films and the new generation just discovering the wizarding world.
It also makes me wonder: could this mean more original cast members will return? Maybe they’ll mix things up with some new and familiar faces.
I’ll admit, when the series was first announced, I wasn’t completely sold on the idea. But the more I hear about it and especially with this casting news the more excited I’m getting. Warwick is such a versatile actor, and I’m curious to see if he’ll tweak his performance or lean into the classic Flitwick we all know and love.

Davis himself has had an incredible career, from Willow and Star Wars to The Chronicles of Narnia. His ability to bring humor, warmth, and energy to every role makes him a perfect fit to return to Hogwarts. Having him back on screen feels like a reassuring nod to the magic of the original films.
Let’s be real the casting choices will make or break this new series. By bringing Warwick back, HBO is showing that they respect the legacy while also being willing to refresh things. Fans want nostalgia, but they also want something new to keep them hooked. Warwick’s casting feels like the perfect balance of both.
What do you think about Warwick’s return? Could this be the start of more surprises in the lineup? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
