So, how did this film website come about? Let me take you back to when I was 15 maybe even younger. Whenever I watched a movie, TV show, or theatre production, I’d rush home, open my laptop, and start writing reviews just for myself. At the time, it never crossed my mind that anyone else would ever read them but when family and friends came across a few, they told me, “Why don’t you publish them?”
Fast-forward a few years: halfway through my Master’s in Sports Journalism, I realised I wanted to pursue this for real. For my dissertation, I built a website reviewing only sports films and sports TV shows. After graduating, I knew my love for storytelling went far beyond that niche I wanted to explore all corners of the entertainment world.
I’ve always been fascinated by interviews. I still find myself watching YouTube clips of press junkets, Variety’s Actors on Actors, and The Hollywood Reporter’s roundtables. The idea of sitting down with someone in the industry, hearing their journey, and sharing it with others really excites me.
In 2023, I launched Over the Shoulder a place where my passion for reviews, interviews, and film discussion could live together in one space. My hope is that it becomes somewhere you can enjoy, interact, and share the movies, TV shows, and performances that inspire you.
