ENTERTAINING AND CHARMING: XO KITTY IS MORE THAN JUST ROMANCE

You know when you watch a series, quite often you say that the second season isn’t as good as the first, in this case however, I disagree. XO KITTY mark 2 is even better, and I don’t normally say that!

XO KITTY is an American/Korean teen drama for all ages.

You get to see the development of the characters and they shine more in this series but what I really love is that it wears its heart on its sleeve, which is exactly what you want in a coming of age/teenager drama.

To simplify things, the main four protagonists are;

Kitty (the titular character the story revolves around)

Min Ho (In love with Kitty/friend)

Yuri (Kitty has a crush on her/friend)

Dae (Kitty’s ex-Boyfriend/friend)

Season 2 starts a month after Min Ho confesses his love on the plane to Kitty. Kitty has already broken things off with Dae, and after rejecting Min Ho’s confession still has a massive crush on Yuri.

Kitty, who hails from Portland USA is back in Korea for another semester at the school KISS. She had been expelled the year before but gained a reprieve and is now trying to find out more about her mum who died when she was 3, as well as her heritage.

Kitty is living in a dormitory with Yuri alongside Yuri’s girlfriend Juliana and a new character who turns out to be Min Ho’s girlfriend Stella.

There are more love triangles, friendships deepening, and Kitty explores her bisexuality by diving straight into the deep end of her emotions. There is also a lot of K drama which I don’t watch normally but XO KITTY is changing my mind.

There is a cameo in this show which will get the fans excited that I don’t want to reveal  as it will be a spoiler and then there is Noah Centineo as Peter Kavisnky. Kavinsky is from “To all the Boys I Loved Before” and plays Kitty’s Sister’s boyfriend in episode 6. He does not disappoint.

One of the reasons I loved XO KITTY is because it is not just a spinoff of, “To all the boys I loved before” film trilogy, but manages to insert easter eggs throughout the series. Its great fun to spot them and I think it would be good to watch the three films first although not essential.

The chemistry between Min Ho and Kitty this series has skyrocketed, and you can’t deny the magic between them when they share the screen.

The whole cast in this NETFLIX show is outstanding and the 8 episodes aren’t too long as they are about 30 minutes each so that it is easy to binge watch.

Is it a bit silly and cheesy sometimes sure, but that is part of the charm of it. Oh, and as much as the ending is a good, there is another emotional cliffhanger! There needs to be a third season as soon as possible, which must be on the cards given its success. Fans around the world will be on tenterhooks to see how things develop in another semester at KISS.

I really recommend watching this American K drama as it could be one of your guilty pleasures or just a comfort show that you can curl up on the sofa and enjoy.
