Director Guy Ritchie has made an entertaining action-packed film out now on Apple TV Plus.
John Krasinski plays Luke Purdue who is an adventurer and son of an archaeologist now deceased. Luke and his dad’s old team are on an adventure to try and find the mythical Fountain of Youth.
To try and find the trail, the team must steal six paintings by the likes of Caravaggio and El Greco. Behind these paintings are clues that when deciphered will lead to the location of the legendary Fountain of Youth. A little bit like Indiana Jones but on a lower budget. Luke’s sister Charlotte (Natalie Portman) who works as an art curator and her young son getting dragged into the quest and although reluctant, they are whisked away in the Indiana Jones like adventure.
The brother and sister relationship worked brilliantly. It had the right chemistry and banter between them.
A group of goodies and baddies are chasing the archaeology team, and no one is exactly what they seem.

The casting in this film is brilliant. Domhnall Gleeson, Stanley Tucci, Eiza Gonzalez didn’t look out of place and add suspense and heart to the story. Eiza especially impressive as Esme. She is great actress and her stunts and budding romance with Luke was nicely played.
What made this film great was the script. It grabs your attention, is well written and there were some laugh out moments.
The stunts were impressive, especially in the opening scene where Luke (John Krasinski) is going through Bangkok on a moped and trying to escape Kasem who wants one of the paintings that he stole.

There are also a couple of other car chases that were well choreographed. Although CGI is used in the set pieces, it is not over done, and Ritchie uses real shot stunt wok most of the time.

There is one scene where Luke is watching his nephew from the back of a music hall playing the piano and they have a good conversation and when his nephew goes back Luke throws his hat that he has kept, back to him.
I would love to know how many takes that took!!
Audiences haven’t been talking highly about this film. It has got a 2.7 out of 5 on Letterbox. I think it is very harsh.
The only negative about this film is Inspector Yamal’s storyline. That character needed to be cut, and I didn’t think it added to the plot and was unnecessary. Everyone else has plenty to do and contribute to the twists and turns.
This is a great fun, action packed movie that has some great locations, witty script and cool concept. Oh, and the costumes aren’t that good and don’t look very exciting.
I wanted more at the end, which is a good sign
