Netflix’s Is It Cake? Halloween Edition returns with spooky twists, edible pumpkins, and a few groan-worthy jokes. I totally get the concept it’s creative and fun but honestly, host Mikey Day can be a bit much. Most of his jokes don’t really land, and it sometimes feels like the show is trying too hard to be funny.

The series starts off strong with nine insanely talented cake artists competing to fool a panel of celebrity judges. Their challenge? Create hyper-realistic Halloween props from haunted decor to creepy treats that make you question what’s real and what’s dessert.

While the cakes are impressive, I have to admit: about 99% of the time, I can tell if it’s actually cake or not. The illusion wears off fast, which makes the suspense a bit flat.

Each of the four episodes runs about 40 minutes, but I wish they were shorter and snappier. The focus seems to be more on setting the spooky mood than tightening the competition or improving the humor.
Still, Is It Cake? Halloween Edition is light, silly fun perfect if you want something easy to watch while multitasking or getting into the Halloween spirit. It’s not groundbreaking TV, but it’s sweet enough for a casual binge.
