People falling in love will never get boring for movie lovers. Everyone enjoys the “will they, won’t they get together” narrative that drives most romantic dramas and comedies, so it doesn’t really matter if it’s a period piece or a sci-fi extravaganza. All we really want is to see our lovers make it to the end of the movie so we can go to bed happy that everything in the world is fine, even it is for a little while.
2026 looks like it could be a bumper year for swooning and for the heart to beat a little faster.
Here are few that I am looking forward to.

PRACTICAL MAGIC 2
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman reprise their roles in a sequel to the 1998 hit romantic comedy. This fantasy sees our stars play witches who are trying to break an ancient curse that prevents them from finding true love. Let’s hope the curse gets broken by true love and the witches finally find happiness.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS
Yet another adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic tale of obsession and tempestuous love is due out on Valentines Day and is anchored by the star power duo of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi as Cathy and Heathcliff. You may need a box of tissues for this one.

YOU, ME AND TUSCANY
Slated for release in April this comedy sees Halle Bailey in the hot Italian sun, an empty villa, mistaken identity and burgeoning love. What could go wrong?

THE DRAMA
Superstars Zendaya and Robert Pattison play a couple whose relationship gets tested just days before their wedding by sone very unexpected occurrences.

PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION
Can friendship turn into love? Two best friends have spent 10 years having a summer holiday with each other until they have a spectacular falling out. Can they mend their relationship and out of the ashes of their rift can something deeper and more loving grow? Emily Bader and Tom Blyth star.
Well, that is just a taster of some of the romantic movies we can look forward to in 2026. If there are some that you are particularly looking forward to please let me know in the comments. Until then, here’s to the bumpy and pot holed, but always worth it in the end, path to true love.
