There are so many upcoming brilliant actors working in the entertainment industry now it’s hard to pick out just a few, but I want to highlight some of my favourites you need to look out for this year. Let’s have a look at some of their work and what they have coming up on the horizon.
CAILEE SPAENY
After tackling one of America’s greatest love stories playing Pricilla in Sofia Coppola’s biopic of the teenager who married Elvis, you knew that she was going to make it big in the industry. It was a hard role to play, and Cailee was excellent and held her own even if she was appearing opposite a fictional King of Rock and Roll. She will be appearing in the third “Knives Out” film alongside Daniel Craig, Andrew Scott and Josh O’Connor later this year. Can’t wait.
KIT CONNOR
Kit Connor has been in the film industry for a while now and is still just 20 years old. He started out in TV shows, then graduated to being the older Reggie who was to become Elton John in “Rocketman”. His breakout role was Nick Nelson in “Heartstopper,” which became a cult hit and will be turned into a movie soon. This year he is in “Warfare” with Joesph Quinn, Will Poulter and many more brilliant young actors. Kit Conner is a versatile actor, who always brings authenticity and charisma to the screen. This is an actor who has more than one string to his bow, including treading the boards on Broadway.
OWEN COOPER
When watching Owen as the troubled teen in “Adolescence”, you wouldn’t have thought that it was his first acting job. That’s how good he is and without going to drama school as well which I still think is mental! Currently filming “Wuthering Heights”, he is playing the young Heathcliff in his second ever role and first movie opposite amazing actors such a Margo Robbie and Jacob Elordi. One to watch.
YERIN HA
“Bridgerton” actresses such as Phoebe Dynevor, Simone Ashley and Nicola Coughlan have become household names, and it will be the same for Australian and Korean actress Yerin Ha. She will take up the main role in this hit period romance for Season 4 as Sophie Beck, Benedict Bridgerton’s love interest. Whilst we wait for her to be “Diamond of the Season” just a little bit longer you can see her in HBOs Dune Prophecy as Revered Mother.
LOUIS MCCARTNEY
Right, I know he is established in the West End in Stranger Things, “The First Shadow” and is reprising his role on Broadway as Henry Creel, but he is a seriously brilliant actor. He is just 21 and to be honest I think after he does this, he will be getting lots of roles in Film and TV. He is so talented that the Silver Screen surely beckons. I know it is slightly different, but I cannot wait to find out what he does next.
SOPHIE WILDE
At aged 26, Sophie has already won a BAFTA Rising Star Award nomination and last year she was alongside her fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman in “Babygirl”. You will find her alongside Tom Cruise in the black comedy film, Judy which is currently being filmed. Got a feeling we are going to see a lot more of this this rising star.
I want to give a shout out to Bella Ramsey. I know she is already a star of, “The last of Us” and “Game of Thrones”, but I think her career is just getting started. It’s crazy she is still only 21 and I am excited to see what other projects that she has got in the future. I see her trajectory as skyrocketing upwards so that her achievements will become legendary. Love her.
