True Love found in New York and a cake shop.

This fresh, original musical romcom will not disappoint. Two Strangers is what you expect it to be, a little bit of an indie, charming with its quirks and overall sweet.

Dougal (Sam Tutty) fly’s over to the Big Apple to go to his dad’s wedding, whom he has never met. He meets New Yorker and sister of the bride Robin (Dujonna Gift) who has been sent to meet him at the airport. Robin has to pick up Mellissa’s wedding cake and Douglas, alone in the big city much to Robin’s annoyance tags along. They are only together for 36 hours. It is the perfect romcom setup but never feels stale.

I have never seen a two hander before, but I thought this was cleverly done as well as the script which was to perfection. The set was genius and inventive, having a series of suitcases that flip to become a Chinese restaurant, cocktail bar just to name a few.

The chemistry between these two actors is excellent, the music is upbeat and outstanding, and you feel like you are carrying the cake through New York with them.  The songs are contemporary, for example there a great number that references Tinder. Robin sings “There must be a decent available true love somewhere inside this phone” which we can all relate too. There was a lot of lines that you would never want to forget.

You really are invested in these two lonely souls, and you really want a happy ever after for them.

This show makes you happy the night of and the morning after.

The production ends on August 31st.
