Our Little Secret: Lindsey Lohan shines in XMAS movie that fails to sparkle.

Posted on December 9, 2024December 10, 2024 by Nyah Barnett

Lindsey Lohan still has the movie magic in her veins even if the movie lets her down.

She returns with another holiday cheer movie, with Our Little Secret that is new on NETFLIX.

Her acting renaissance continues with the last of three Christmas movies she has done for the streaming giant. The first two were terrible, however, this one was the best of the lot. But it is a low bar to be honest but out of Falling into Christmas, the Irish Wish and now Our Little Secret this definately has got the best plot.

Our little Secret is a little bit predictable, but the premise of this show is two exes with unresolved feelings are forced to spend Christmas together and discover their significant others are siblings.

There are moments where the plot is slow, and it does rely heavily on familiar romantic tropes such as awkward dinners and lots of miscommunication and then a big confession.

However, there is solid chemistry between Lohan and her co-star, Ian Harding (best known for playing Ezra on Pretty Little Liars). The couple’s back and forth energy helps carry the movie through some of the more cliché moments. A slightly off-colour aspect is Harding plays a character where his love interest seemed to be severely younger than him. First with Ariana in Pretty Little Liars and now with his girlfriend Cassie in Our Little Secret.

The script occasionally falters. It lacks depth, but in the film’s defence it does not pretend to be anything more than a romantic comedy. Some scenes were quite funny, with one standing out, which is when Lohan is in a church and must give a speech to the children when high.

The production is low budget with some of the scenery creaking and the dialogue leaves you thinking you could write it yourself with more feeling.

Everyone involved though give it there best shot with the material given to them and there are some sweet moments for people who love a bit of Christmas romance.

Overall, it is a fun and festive watch for those searching of an easy-going Christmas movie.
