I want to give a big thank you and show my appreciation to Glasgow Film Festival for giving me the opportunity to attend my first red carpet event.
I didn’t know what to expect and to be honest I was very excited but also a little bit nervous. Even though I have watched many red-carpet events and celebrity interviews on TV, I was apprehensive about the protocol involved. I shouldn’t have been concerned as the GFF organisers could not have been more welcoming and helpful.

I arrived on the 28th of February, grabbed my free TOTE bag and headed to watch a film called Reinas (review coming soon) at the Cineworld cinema. Later that afternoon I put on some heels and dashed to the red carpet at the Glasgow Film Theatre to see Ed Harris and Jessica Lange promoting their new film Long Day’s Journey into Night.
It was great fun, although the two stars walked straight past me, which is probably karma as I had to research who they were! Imagine my surprise when I found out they were both Oscar winners!

The director Jonathon Kent was on the red-carpet too. He was sweet and I would have asked a question but the combination of nerves and having a good time meant the moment passed. Met some cool journalists and we had a good gossip.
Then it came to red-carpet Sunday on the 2nd of March.

Now that I knew the format and my way around, I was raring to go and was super excited as James McAvoy was receiving the Cinema City Honorary Award. I think he is an incredible actor and has a lot of charisma, so I was happy just to share the carpet with him, even if deep down I was determined to get the chance to ask him a question.
He was relaxed and happy walking down the red carpet, speaking to people and seemingly enjoying the conversation. He looked my way and my moment came. It was great to ask him the very last question on my very first red carpet. Well, technically my second but we don’t count the day before.
Overall, the whole experience was brilliant and now I have got a taste for it, I want more.
Reviews of the films I watched at the GFF, coming soon.
