Johnny Flynn from Jane Austen’s EMMA and RICHARD BURTON from the play MOTIVE AND THE CUE is set to play Lucius Malfoy in the HBO HARRY POTTER TV SERIES currently being filmed at the Leavesden Studios just outside London.

This is a brilliant addition to the cast as Johnny is an eclectic actor who has shown that he has the perfect qualities to be the Lord Voldemort supporting father of Harry Potter’s nemesis Draco Malfoy.
Not only that, I don’t know if Johnny would thank me, but he has the handsome but devilish look of the long-haired blonde villain.
Flynn has experience playing Shakespeare and Lucius’s story arc has the feel of a Shakespearean character, as well as a hint of tragedy.

Johnny has also been in One Life which he stared alongside Helena Bonham Carter who famously played Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter universe. Maybe he can call her up for some advice.
Other new cast members announced are BAFTA winner Katherine Parkinson playing Molly Weasley, Bel Powley playing Petunia Dursley and Lox Pratt playing Draco Malfoy just to name a few.

I am not sure why they cast Parvati Patil and Lavender Brown as they are Gryffindor students who do not appear in the first few movies. They must be very confident that the first season is going to be a success!!
Really pleased that the producers are still David Heyman and JK Rowling to keep the continuity going, but I hope they let the director Mark Mylod express his vision as I don’t want just a repeat of the movies, as much as that would be nice.
It is exciting, as along with Johnny Flynn there are many other fine British adult actors playing the iconic roles in conjunction with the young newcomers.
Must not forget the odd American actor too. I am looking at you John Lithgow.
Can’t wait to see who else gets cast and more to this will follow.
